Lord Justice Nicholas Pumfrey, aged 56, died suddenly from a massive stroke at his London flat on Christmas Eve.

Murphy, of the Red, White & Blue in Portsmouth, was appealing against her conviction for screening Premiership football via Greek channel Nova Supersport.

Pumfrey and Mr Justice Stanley Burnton ruled that the satellite signal was broadcast from England and that the fee payable was that to Sky and not to Nova.

But the pair did give Murphy's team a glimmer of hope – they will have a day in the New Year to argue their case under European competition law.

It is expected a new judge will be found to hear the argument on European law with Mr Justice Burnton.

bullsh1t

if that was the case then EVERY tv on the planet that shows a premiership match has to pay sky as the original broadcast from the match is privately owned and dealt with by sub-contractors and relayed to the BT tower for its 1st transmission, so if anything, its BT that should be paid and NOT sly

im pretty sure that nova is broadcast from athens AFTER recieving its feed from satellite via the BT tower (the same as sly recieves than rebroadcasts)
